Site C Clean Energy Project Safety Consulting Services
Peace River Hydro Partners
ProconSAFE has been contracted to manage the silica exposure control program, the mine rescue program, and underground safety program at BC Hydro’s Site C Clean Energy Project in Fort St John BC. ProconSAFE will have two safety personnel on the project with support from the corporate safety department.
The Site C project will be the third dam and generating station along the Peace River in northeast BC. It will provide 1,100 megawatts (MW) of capacity, and produce about 5,100 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity each year – enough energy to power the equivalent of about 450,000 homes per year in B.C. The worksite itself is 22 km² with a final earth fill dam, approximately 1,050 meters long and 60 meters high above the river bed. The underground portion of the project consists of a 1,100 meter right (south) bank drainage tunnel and two 700 meter left (north) bank diversion tunnels.
The 8.4 billion dollar project is estimated to be finished in 2024 with the underground portion being finished in 2018/2019.
