Corporate Management Team


The Procon Group of Companies has a strong corporate management team supported by experienced and motivated operational, engineering, and administrative staff - key elements contributing to the Company’s success. Since the founding of Procon in 1992, operations have been directed by a stable executive team; the majority of whom have been with the company since inception.

Ed Yurkowski, P. Eng. President

Mr. Yurkowski is a founder of the Procon Group of Companies and remains a principal shareholder. Mr. Yurkowski guides the corporate governance of the company and directly oversees the business development functions of the company. Prior to forming Procon, Mr. Yurkowski was the President and a part owner of the successful contractor Tonto Mining - from 1981 to 1991. Mr. Yurkowski is responsible for the overall strategic direction and operation of the Company.

Jim Dales, P. Eng. Vice President, Operations

Holding a dual degree in Civil and Mining Engineering, Mr. Dales is a founder of the Procon Group of Companies and remains a principal shareholder. Mr. Dales is responsible for the management of all project contracts. Prior to Procon, Mr. Dales was the Vice President of Operations and part owner of Tonto Mining from 1981 to 1991. Prior to 1981, Mr. Dales worked for a large civil contractor in various capacities up to Project Manager on large hydro and road tunnelling projects.

Owen Davies, CA Chief Financial Officer

Owen joined Procon in March of 2006 from PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) and has overall responsibility for corporate financial control. Owen was with PwC from 1998 to 2005 and was an Assistant Vice President in PwC’s corporate finance and investment banking group. Mr. Davies is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years experience in both accounting and finance.

Michel Cauchon Manager, Finance and Administration

Mr. Cauchon has been with Procon since its founding in 1992 and is a minority shareholder of the Company. Prior to Procon, Mr.Cauchon worked as a project accountant, and then as a senior accountant with Northern Construction Company. Mr. Cauchon has more than thirty years of related finance work experience in the construction industry, and is responsible for managing all administration and accounting functions of the Group.

Brad Skeeles, P.Eng Contracts Manager

Having joined Procon in 2005, Mr. Skeeles is a mining engineer with 19 years of experience in the mining industry including extensive knowledge of mine management, mine engineering, and mine design. Prior to Procon, he managed the division mines and mill in Manitoba for Inco Limited; the Tintaya Mine in Peru for BHP Billiton; and the Ekati Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories for BHP Billiton. Mr. Skeeles is responsible for overseeing all site operations for the jobs within his purview. These currently include our projects in the Yukon, Northern British Columbia and the NWT.

Colin Wilson, P. Eng Contracts Manager

Joining Procon in 2006, Mr. Wilson is responsible for managing various projects within his area of purview -including projects in Greenland and the Northwest Territories. Colin is a mining engineer with 22 years of experience in the mining industry including extensive knowledge of mine management, operations, contracting, and mine design. Prior to Procon, he was Area Manager for a competing contractor overseeing projects in Canada, USA, and Brazil and is a Qualified Individual with the Nevada and Arizona State Contractors’ Boards. Colin has also held the positions of Mine Superintendent for Placer Dome, Asst. Manager and Mine Superintendent for Cameco, and has held several engineering functions through to Chief Engineer with Cameco, HBM&S, and Westmin Resources.

Dan Borchardt Division Manager, Procon Equipment

Mr. Borchardt has more than 35 years experience in operation and management of mine maintenance departments, including extensive engine and hydraulics experience and training. Prior to Procon he worked at the New Britannia Mine, where he was responsible for all maintenance, including the start up and decommissioning of the mine. He worked for Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting where he was responsible for all the maintenance at Trout Lake Mine. Mr. Borchardt is responsible for overseeing the Procon Equipment Division which maintains the equipment fleet used on all our projects.

John Scott, CMSP Director, Human Resources & Safety

Mr. Scott oversees the development and implementation of the Procon Health, Safety and Enviromental programs. John has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry. His background includes knowledge and experience in mine operations, mine rescue, mine ventilation, and Health & Safety. He is a Certified Mine Safety Professional with the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals. Prior to Procon, he worked at Placer Dome Ltd. as Corporate Safety Director overseeing 17 mine sites in 7 countries.

Henry Wulkan, P.Eng. Contracts Administrator

A civil engineer with over 30 years of experience in heavy civil construction and project management, Mr. Wulkan has extensive experience in contract development and project control. Prior to joining Procon in 2002, Mr. Wulkan worked in the capacity of Project Manager for Ledcor in Canada and the USA, as well as Estimator and increasing senior engineering positions for Jaemar Construction, Dillingham Construction, Loram Construction, CANA Construction, and Manitoba Hydro.
