Mechanical Shop Supervisor – Saskatoon, SK

Procon Mining and Tunnelling Ltd. is a leading Canadian Mining contractor operating in North America. Procon is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Shop Supervisor for a role in the Saskatoon area.

The duties of this role include:

  • Ensure sufficient task analysis are completed to carry work out safely and direct laboring control work to safe working procedures and systems.
  • Request equipment, materials and consumables as required within limits of authority, monitoring the use of materials and care of equipment to minimize waste and damage.
  • Manage employees including apprentices.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements and that documentation is completed on time.
  • Enforce safety rules through ongoing communication and Toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure workshop security – Machine lockup – mobile equipment, gates, cupboards, office.
  • Estimate hours remaining to be completed on jobs and estimating new jobs, supporting all technical queries.
  • Coordinating machine shop deliveries to subcontractors and clients, expediting supplier and subcontract deliveries.
  • Assist in preparation of Production Schedule.
  • Maintain work accuracy in all aspects of manufacture.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery equipment and mobile equipment.
  • Assist in preparation of Budgets.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification. Red Seal Certification a requirement
  • A minimum of 5-7 yrs experience working on mining and construction heavy equipment
  • Must be comfortable performing repairs when required and checking the mechanics work for quality assurance.
  • Experience managing a shop with Company owned fleet would be an asset
  • Extensive Health and Safety guidelines and regulations an asset
  • Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD and Electronic Maintenance Systems
