Ed Yurkowski, P. Eng. – President
Mr. Yurkowski has been involved in the mining and civil contracting industries since 1966, including ownership and management of two large mining construction contracting companies. Mr. Yurkowski is a founder of Procon and remains a principal shareholder. Mr. Yurkowski guides the corporate governance of the company and directly oversees the business development functions and is responsible for the overall strategic direction and operation of the company.
Jim Dales, P. Eng. – Vice President, Operations
Mr. Dales has been involved in the mining and civil contracting industries since 1970, including ownership and management of two large mining construction contracting companies. Mr. Dales is a founder of Procon and remains a principal shareholder. Holding a dual degree in Civil and Mining Engineering, Mr. Dales is responsible for the management of all project contracts including all field operations and client negotiations.
Owen Davies CA – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Davies is a Chartered Accountant with over 12 years experience in both accounting and finance. Mr. Davies has overall responsibility for corporate financial control. Prior to joining Procon Mr. Davies was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) as an Assistant Vice President in PwC’s corporate finance and investment banking group.
John Scott, CMSP – Director, Human Resources & Safety
Mr. Scott is a Certified Mine Safety Professional with over 37 years of experience in the mining industry, with knowledge and experience in mine operations, mine rescue, mine ventilation, and health & safety. Mr. Scott is responsible for the development and implementation of the Procon Health, Safety and Environmental programs and oversees the Human Resources department. Prior to Procon Mr. Scott worked at Placer Dome Ltd. as Corporate Safety Director overseeing 17 mine sites in 7 countries.
Dan Borchardt – Manager, Procon Equipment Division
Mr. Borchardt has more than 37 years experience in operation and management of mine maintenance departments, including extensive engine and hydraulics experience and training. Mr. Borchardt is responsible for overseeing Procon’s Equipment Division which maintains the equipment fleet used on all Procon projects. Prior to Procon Mr. Borchardt worked at the New Britannia Mine where he was responsible for all maintenance from the start-up to the decommissioning of the mine.
Colin Wilson, P. Eng – Area Manager
Mr. Wilson is a mining engineer with over 25 years of experience in the mining industry including extensive knowledge of mine management, operations, contracting, and mine design. Joining Procon in 2006, Mr. Wilson is responsible for overseeing all site functions in his area of operations. Prior to Procon Mr. Wilson was Area Manager for a competing contractor overseeing projects in Canada and the US and is a Qualified Individual with the Nevada and Arizona State Contractors’ Boards.
Tim Matusiak – Area Manager
Mr. Matusiak has more than 27 years of local and international experience as a Superintendent and Contracts Administrator in underground mining and industrial projects. Joining Procon in 1999, Mr. Matusiak is now responsible for overseeing all site functions in his area of operations. Prior to Procon Mr. Matusiak was a Contracts Administrator for Placer Dome and Royal Oak Mines.
Jon Braaten – Manager, Procon Industrial Division
Mr. Braaten has more than 24 years of experience in the civil, industrial, and mining contracting industries. Mr. Braaten is responsible for overseeing Procon’s Industrial Division which handles infrastructure services to the mining industry such as shaft rehab work and underground construction. Prior to Procon Mr. Braaten worked for several industrial contractors on such projects as refinery dismantling, compressor stations, sour gas plants, mechanical pulp mills, and power plants.
